Safety Guide

OnlyYou connects you with trusted religious service providers. Here's how to make the most of your experience safely.

🔒 Protect Your Personal Information

  • Never share your home address, financial information, or government ID with a provider before building trust.
  • Keep early conversations within the OnlyYou platform — avoid moving to personal phone numbers or emails right away.
  • Be cautious of providers who ask for payment outside the platform or request unusual personal details.
  • Use a general location (city or region) rather than your exact address when describing where you are.

🤝 Building Trust Step by Step

  • 1. Read the profile carefully — check their bio, faith tradition, services, and reviews from other seekers.
  • 2. Start with a message — ask questions about their experience, approach, and how they work before committing to a session.
  • 3. Start with an online session — for your first interaction, prefer video or phone over in-person to get comfortable first.
  • 4. Meet in a public or semi-public place — if meeting in person, choose a community center, place of worship, or café rather than a private home.
  • 5. Tell someone you trust — let a friend or family member know who you're meeting and where.

🚩 Red Flags to Watch For

  • Pressure to make quick decisions or commit immediately.
  • Requests for money, gifts, or unusual favors early in the relationship.
  • Unwillingness to answer questions about their background or credentials.
  • Making you feel guilty, fearful, or emotionally dependent.
  • Discouraging you from talking to friends, family, or other spiritual advisors.

📋 For Providers

  • Keep clear professional boundaries with seekers at all times.
  • Be transparent about your qualifications, approach, and any fees upfront.
  • Never pressure seekers into commitments or ongoing arrangements.
  • Respect the privacy and confidentiality of everyone you serve.

💳 Payment Safety

OnlyYou does not process payments. All arrangements are made directly between seekers and providers.
  • Never send payment before your first session — build trust first.
  • Agree on fees clearly in writing (via the OnlyYou chat) before any service begins.
  • Be cautious of providers who ask for large upfront payments or unusual payment methods.
  • Use traceable payment methods (bank transfer, PayPal) rather than cash or gift cards.
